Instructions for use
Enter your family name in the box and click the Exact button. This compares the name against names taken from Scottish Parish records. If this does not give a result try the Wide button. This compares the name against the many thousands of recorded derivative of Scottish names. When a clan connection has been established click on the View Clan Information button to view the Crest, Location, Clan Seat, History and Tartans. ClanFinder© currently has full information on the main 143 clans and partial information on the remaining 198 clans. Ongoing research will add more information as it becomes available.
If you cannot find a match under your surname, but you know you have family from a certain area, you can enter the exact name of the town or village In Scotland and click on Search. The main clan or clans associated with the town will be returned - then click on View Clan Information.
