The Officer Sgian Dubh
Item Code: OSG Cost: £74.95 (inc. VAT)
The Officer Sgian Dubh is very special accessory, and is now available personalised for the Durie family.
The first recorded use of this utility knife was in the Crimean War and there is also recorded use in the Boer War.
A number of variations were seen during the First World War but use died out thereafter.
Because of the cost and complexity of manufacture it was always a gentleman's accessory and we have been unable to trace any variants used by Other Ranks, however, our research continues.
The original had a corkscrew and screwdriver - both faithfully reproduced here - but bottle opener has been added as a special feature for modern use.
The Officer Sgian Dubh comes emblazoned with the Durie family crest as standard, and has a Celtic design worked into the blade. The handle has a polished pewter and the scabbard is leather.
